Philadelphia is the sixth largest city in the U.S. with a rich culture, history, diversity, and beauty, but many people in the city feel hopeless, abandoned, and disenfranchised. The city is experiencing population growth for the first time in 60 years. Philadelphia needs to know that the gospel changes who we are and it gives us the hope that our city needs to make real change. We want to reach out in love and respect to revive the believer, reach our friends, and renew the culture of this great city.

We cannot stay quiet about what God has done for us, Philadelphia needs us to love one another and live as the body of Christ all week long as we share the gospel the change in our lives impacts our community and the world.

Believers Bible Fellowship exists to:

  • Worship the Lord our God in spirit and in truth. (John 4:24)

  • Engage in gospel outreach near and far. (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 1:8)

  • Love one another and the world as the Lord Jesus loves us. (John 13:34)

  • Make disciples of every nation. (Matthew 28:19-20)

Bringing God glory in our community and around the world is our priority as we love people right where they are and rescue them with the hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We will be an inter-generational, multi-ethnic, gospel centered community of believers that will connect with our community by serving the least, the last, and the lost by making 1000 disciples. Our desire is look like Revelation 7:9 with the hope of impacting the greater Philadelphia area and the world.

Our strategy to implement this vision and make it a reality:

RESCUE:

We must share the Gospel and make it central to all we do.

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.

The Gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ sacrificing His life in exchange for ours, it changes everything, it is the basis for change in our own lives, our community, our culture and our society. The Gospel is not merely the door through which we enter the Christian life but it is also the pathway on which we walk throughout the Christian life.

CONNECT:

We must connect people to meaningful relationships with other believers.

Acts 2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to fellowship…

It is extremely important that we provide opportunities for people to connect with other people, ministry and events. God works through people and we must ensure that we provide ways for this to take place. We have a variety of opportunities to help you be a part of what God is doing through Believers Bible Fellowship.

GROW:

We must constantly grow in our faith through teaching and small groups.

2 Peter 1:5-7 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.

Growing in knowledge is vital, but it’s about more than just information, it’s about truly becoming a disciple and seeing God’s Word come alive in your life. We want to know Christ, know His love and live for Him as we become the people that he wants us to be.

SERVE:

We must sacrificially serve others with our spiritual gifts and talents.

1 Corinthians 12:4-6, 11 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

One of our primary roles as believers is to serve. We strive to model the Christian life by using our gifts and talents to minister to our church and our community. Whether it’s during Sunday worship or during the week, we have opportunities for you to use your gifts, talents, and passions in ministry.

HONOR:

We must honor God is our worship and our financial giving.

John 4:24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.

Matthew 6:19 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven

We strive to please God in our worship and in the way that we manage our treasures. We want to bring glory to God in both of these areas. This is our opportunity to give God our thanks and show that we trust Him.
